THE STORY

ONDURA DURABLE GOODS is a one man army.

Founded by Leens Jan Ondra in 2013 and based in Bünde Westfalen a small town in Germany.

"Born and raised in a small village, inspired by D.I.Y, punk music  and subculture. 

I lived in a 6 m2 old army truck for nearly ten years. Due to this lifestyle, i became minimalist; less is more and quality will endure. After working as a carpenter i studied fashion design at the fine art school Berlin Weißensee, where I graduated with distinction. After working unsatisfied for several years in the fashion industry as a designer, I built my own company:

...everything started with my old favorite boy-scout knive leather pocket.

It is over 20 years old and still one of my top ten accessoires. Very simple, durable, usefull, functional and damn good looking! Made from naturally vegetable tanned leather. 

Over the past years it became more and more beautiful and developed a totally individual patina. Natural vegetable tanned leather is the perfect denim accessory. It ages in the same authentic way like a good dark blue raw denim jeans.

Each day you wear/use it it becomes more beautiful.

I wondered where do you nowadays find such products which are meant to last and become better looking with age? To me it was a conscious decision to produce quality goods that are made to last as long as possible and to age authenticity. 

If you are a kind of fast fashion guy who needs to have the latest trends, made quickly bought cheaply and for a short shelf life: Please leave. You won`t find that here. 

Real authenticity and good taste can not be bought.

You have to feel it and to live it. Only time will tell...

Natural vegetable tanned leather is tanned using an age-old process that uses tannins and ingredients found in vegetation; for example extracts from tree bark, wood, leaves, fruits and roots. The final skin color may vary in  tone and darkness depending on the mix of materials used in this process.

Over the time the leather starts to age and gets a patina that is unique to the user.

Sun exposure, daily handling, water and conditioning give natural vegetable tanned leather this beautiful authentic look.

The ONDURA philosophy is deeply influenced by minimalistic lifestyle.

Five words are significant for the brand:

"DURABILITY" means high quality, best materials and traditional craftsmanship.

Goods which can last for lifetime and not only one fucking fashion season.

For ecological and economical reasons.

"FUNCTIONALITY" is a must, otherwise it will be art or in my opinion a waste of resources.

"CLASSIC DESIGN" is timeless and will be never out of fashion.

"AUTHENTIC GOODS" that will endure. 

"MADE IN GERMANY": out of ecological and social awareness. Short Distances > less Co2 emissions. Real jobs for real people in Germany with social standards and fair wages.

All needed materials and accessories are by first choice as near as possible.
